Carbon & Thunder: When Lamborghini Took to the Padel Court

Acapulco, 1968. The Pacific air hangs thick with salt and ambition. On a private court overlooking the ocean, Enrique Corcuera tweaks the rules of squash, enclosing the space, borrowing from platform tennis, letting the ball ricochet off walls in a rhythm that feels illicit and new. The rallies are raw, frantic, intimate. Wood meets rubber in tight quarters; reflex becomes religion. A new sport is born — padel.

From Mexico City’s manicured clubs, the fever spreads across the Americas. Spain claims it with fervour. Argentina perfects it. Europe refines it. Asia embraces it. What began as a clever modification becomes a global obsession — a gladiatorial ballet played in glass cages, where power is nothing without control and style is half the victory.

Now cut to present-day Barcelona.

A low growl slices through the morning calm. A Lamborghini Temerario glides to a halt outside a sunlit club in Pedralbes. Out steps a sharply tailored Catalonian with the posture of a matador and the focus of a pro athlete. His kit is immaculate. His watch discreetly lethal. But it’s the object in his hand that draws the crowd.

The new BL003.

The third chapter in the collaboration between Automobili Lamborghini and Babolat is not merely a padel racquet. It is a manifesto in carbon fibre.

Unveiled in February 2026, the BL003 fuses extreme power with agile manoeuvrability and unmistakable Lamborghini design. It is born from a joint development process marrying Babolat’s game technology with Lamborghini’s structural design and advanced carbon engineering. The result is sculpted aggression: high-modulus carbon fibres, advanced geometries, and an optimised structural architecture delivering ruthless stability and surgical precision.

On the surface: 3K carbon. Beneath it: a carbon frame reinforced with KORIDION — a patented foam technology derived directly from Lamborghini’s automotive engineering. It is lightweight, aerodynamic, devastatingly responsive. Hand-crafted in limited quantities at the Babolat Padel Studio in Spain, each piece is finished with a thermoplastic ABS coating for comfort at impact and durability that borders on indestructible.

This is not their first dance. The BL001 in 2024 introduced Lamborghini’s carbon fibre mastery to padel, produced inside the Italian marque’s own facilities. The BL002 followed in 2025, honed at Babolat headquarters, its lines echoing the aerodynamic drama of Sant’Agata’s super sports cars. Both became collector’s items almost overnight. The BL003 refines the bloodline.

To understand the weight of this collaboration, you must understand Babolat. Founded in Lyon in 1875, it has armed generations of champions with racquets that privilege feel, control and competitive edge. From tennis to padel, its name carries authority in every serious locker room. When Babolat engineers speak of “cutting-edge sensations”, they mean marginal gains that win tie-breaks.

And Lamborghini? Once purely the theatre of V12 excess, it has evolved into something broader — a curator of desire. Partnerships now extend beyond asphalt into sound with Sonus Faber and into sport with Babolat. This is no dilution of DNA. It is expansion. A supercar is an object of performance and emotion. Why shouldn’t a racquet be the same?

On court, the BL003 feels like launch control in your palm. Volleys snap with intent. Smashes detonate. Yet there is finesse — a velvet touch at the net, a whisper of control in defensive lobs. It rewards the bold. It flatters the stylish. It announces its owner before the first serve.

For seasoned padel devotees, it is a competitive weapon dressed in Italian theatre. For first-timers, it is the ultimate entrance — a declaration that you do not dabble; you arrive. For loyalists of both houses, it is the long-awaited convergence of two performance bloodlines.

Available in limited quantities from 5 February 2026, the BL003 is not designed to sit quietly in a kit bag. It is designed to be coveted.

Miss it, and you’ll feel it every time the glass walls echo with someone else’s winning smash.

The new BL003 retails at €600 and available in two variations. Visit www.babolat.com to purchase.
